The era of choosing white windows and doors as the sole colour option is behind us, as people’s preferences have evolved significantly in recent years. The demand for various coloured UPVC windows has surged. Additionally, it has become a crucial aspect of local planning regulations to install windows that match the style of those already in place. Being informed about the different options available will make selecting the right UPVC windows and doors a much simpler task.
Two Types of Coloured UPVC Window Finishes
- Paint Sprays
- Laminated Foils
Why Do Homeowners Choose Spray Painted UPVC Windows?
As the term suggests, UPVC window frames are coated with a coloured paint, typically applied at the factory or during installation. If you’re looking to refresh the colour of your current windows, on-site spray painting is an option. Previously, the main concern was that the paint would fade and peel within a few years.
Today, window manufacturers utilise advanced paint technology that ensures a strong bond with the UPVC surface. These paints are specifically designed for use with uPVC, PVC, PVCu, or durable plastics such as acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, and polyester powder coatings. When applied properly, you can expect the paint to last approximately 10 years.
Several Advantages of Utilising Spray Painted UPVC Windows and doors
- Offered in a wide range of colours.
- Options available for various finishes, including satin, gloss, matt, pearlescent, and metallic.
- Resistant to scratches, UV rays, and fading.
What Are Laminated Foil Coloured UPVC Windows?
Coloured foils are used to make these window frames. The painting process is entirely different from spray-painted UPVC windows and can be applied during the manufacturing process at the factory level. A coloured foil or skin is laid on the surface of the frames and then baked. The process secures the coloured foil and bonds it completely with the frame.
Our in house experienced Formula One manufacturing knows how to render the foil a desired texture or timber-grain effect. Your UPVC window frames will look like real timber. The only disadvantage of choosing laminated foil coloured UPVC windows is that there are limited colour options.
